The Happening: Brights on a Sunday Stroll

What better way to celebrate a leisurely Sunday than with sunny shades? Oh yeah, pancakes!

The Happening: One Night in Bangkok

And that's all it took really. I just fell for the city. Cheap on the pocket and yet richly overflowing with life. I'll definitely be back, but next time, for much, much longer. #Whereareyouseatsale?

The Happening: Camo Craziness!

When it rains, it pours. This past few months, I've been gathering camo like it was nobody's business, and you know what? I'm not done! Not with this, this, and this on the loose! Soon!

The Happening: Sneaker Dream Comes True!

I've always wanted Air Jordans ever since I was a kid. All the cool kids in class used to rock 'em, and now, all grown up, I'm proud to say I just got the mack daddy of 'em all. Heralded by many as one of the best sneakers ever created, the Air Jordan 3 Black / Cements sold out instantly when it was re-released in Singapore late last year. With a stroke of luck, though, I believe I chanced upon what may be the last pair in the country! It's a bit bigger than my actual size, but to hell with it! It's not everyday that you get to own such an iconic pair for both basketball and streetwear.
On and off the court, these bring some phenomenal swag to your game.

Now hanging at my room after what felt like years of frantic searching. New addiction alert!

The Art: Singapore Art Museum Collections

Some snaps from our recent visit to Singapore Art Museum where "Future Proof" and "Chimera" are currently being shown. If you love contemporary art and find yourself in Singapore, you owe it to yourself to visit. We were there for about three hours and every minute was just astonishing.

The Happening: Christmas Canvas Sneaks

Canvas shoes are awesome. They're versatile, comfortable, and as many favorites will prove, practically indestructible. That's why I was thrilled when my sisters and my girlfriend both got me new canvas pairs as gifts last Christmas. My siblings gave me these yellow Vans Authentics and my girlfriend (once again surprising me) gifted me these off-white Comme Des Garcons Play Chuck Taylors. Two different pairs that fulfill different needs (the yellow sneaks for pop and the off-white kicks for understated cool), but joined by the fact that both have been on my feet nonstop since I got 'em. And in case you're wondering, yes, I have a lot of navy blue socks.

Apparently, bright yellow shoes will get you a lot of attention. The good kind.

The Happening: Showing Old Shoes Love

It's that time of the year again. The time when you take those dear to you and let them know just how much you adore them. The time when you go the extra mile to ensure that you'll be together forever. Now, before you click the back button, hold up. I'm talking about your favorite shoes, you lovebird. You see, I just got my two-year old Bass Laytons the re-haul they so badly deserved. Re-soled and shined up expertly, I am happy to report that it's good as new and that I've never been more attracted. Turns out, shoes are a lot like relationships, a little effort goes a long way.

Honestly speaking, I think I'll grow old with these. It's like falling in love again.

The Happening: And I'm Back!

Don't worry, chaps, I ain't dead! The blog was for quite some months, though, and for that, my sincerest apologies. For still checking it out when it was devoid of life, my warm thanks. I must admit my work took its toll on me for a minute there, but with this new year comes a new beginning filled with promises to do what I truly enjoy (writing this blog). In 2012, I'm gonna go H.A.M. with every post. If it's the end as we know it, then by god, let's go out in style!

The Happening: The Future is Now!

I haven't gone bananas for sneakers for a long time, but damn, this teaser for the Back-to-the-Future-popularized Nike Mags is insane! It's not so much the design of the shoe that has me riled up (they're a bit for the youngins), it's the entire concept of having something dreamed up in a 1980s sci-fi flick and actually making it reality! Rumor has it that Nike recently applied for patents for powered shoelaces - a trademark of the supposed 2015 McFly shoes. If they make it happen tomorrow (the day of the big reveal), then great scott, Doc, I say the future is upon us!

The Art: Singapore's Night Voyage Festival

How did you guys spend your Friday night? Drinking, dancing, partying? Well, my friends and I did something a little offbeat - we went to go experience art! As part of Singapore's Night Voyage Festival, the city's finest museums were open till 2AM to host exhibits, installations, and even a quirky bazaar. I must say, not a bad way to end one of the most draining weeks ever. After being bombarded by numbers non-stop, my eyes finally got the visual treats they so rightfully deserve!

The Happening: A Quick, Important Query

I was browsing through some shirts at Ralph Lauren recently and I saw this. Still too stunned to make any quips, so just a simple question: where exactly in the Philippines do they make 'em and for the love of god, can someone give me a damn map? Sheesh, right under our noses too!

No, seriously. Please give me the damn map!

The Happening: Birthday Gift Gone Early

My girlfriend is the best. No going around it, she's simply the sweetest, especially with surprises. Before I left, she threw me a surprise despedida with my closest friends and family. And when she came to visit for the first time last week, yeah, she pulled it off again. If you recall, I raved about these DM oxfords weeks ago. We came across the very same pair while going around and I pointed it out. Next day, when she left for Manila, guess what I came home to? Go ahead, guess! Yup, it was a super advanced birthday gift that's proof yet again of her best-ever status. Truth be told, if it weren't for FaceTime with her everyday, I'd go home to her in a heartbeat!

After a hard day's work, going home to this capped the day off well.

I had no idea at all. She got me again! I should get her back, no?

Here it is worn. Oh man, I'll be abusing these babies, that's for sure!

The Happening: And So the Season Begins

I've never been to Singapore during its sale season, but I heard a lot of good things. Well, the whole shebang just started last week and I like what I'm seeing so far. Aside from go-tos like Topman (up to 70% off) and Uniqlo (which has sales everyday anyway), I was excited to see that two major prep players are partaking in the celebration. Brooks Brothers and your oxfords, belts, and bow ties - well, hello. Tommy Hilfiger which re-committed to classics cool via this sweet campaign - nice to see you again. While cheaper, the prices are honestly not where I want them to be yet. But the sale season's ongoing till July, so patience, Bobby, patience. We'll get there.

Ah, now I can finally shop at this prepster's paradise!

Blast from the Past: Loved Tommy as a kid and the feeling's coming back!
